The new Holley fuel system for the 2011-17 Mustangs is a true dual pump design. The saddle tank design in the late model Mustang and other musclecar platforms can be a limiting factor for road course duties. Most aftermarket systems suggest that you have to have 1/2 to 3/4 of a tank of fuel to race without potential fuel pressure loss in the turns.
Holley has designed a system with a 525 LPH E85 compatible pump for both sending units in the Mustang fuel tank. The design eliminates the factory jet pump and includes a HydraMat on each new pump module to prevent fuel starvation with only 2 gallons of fuel in your tank. Supports up to 2200 EFI or 2800 Carb HP (@60 PSI at 13.5 Volts / 16.9 AMP Draw)
The OEM jet pump diverts more than 20 GPH to sweep fuel from the secondary side since this is the only way to access fuel from this side. This fuel is only recycled for the jet pump and takes away from useable fuel delivery to the engine. There is no functional use for the jet pump in the Holley system since we return fuel from each regulator directly above each of the HydraMats.
The amazing HydraMat® is Holley’s patent pending design that solves the problems associated with traditional fuel pick-ups in stock fuel tanks as well as racing fuel cells. During hard cornering, acceleration, stopping, inclines, and low fuel conditions fuel runs away from the fuel pick up which introduces air into the system resulting in poor engine performance and even stalling. HydraMat is the solution!
Surface tension and fluid wicking are the secrets of the HydraMat, giving it the amazing ability to draw from nearly any area that has contact with fuel and then store it in its internal reservoir. As an area of the HydraMat is uncovered, the tiny pores of the media seal off through surface tension, forcing fuel to be contained in the reservoir and drawn from other areas of the mat where fuel continues to be available.
